TBFS Girls: Meet Sonja Edwards

Since 1993, we’ve stood beside cross dressers, transfeminine, and gender-fluid individuals across the globe. You don’t need approval to be who you are — we simply offer a space where you can show up fully. Through your stories and photos, one truth shines through: you’re not alone, and you never were.

TBFS Girls: Meet Sonja

Meet Sonja Edwards

What’s your name? What are your pronouns?
Sonja Edwards. She/her when en femme.

Where are you located?
Pennsylvania, USA

What’s your favorite thing about expressing your feminine side?
I love being Sonja as it’s a chance to escape from the boring male life. Being male, especially the clothing, is very plain and boring. It’s a chance to wear fun outfits and to feel pretty and attractive. The feeling of girl clothes is so pleasurable and fun. Love the feeling of a skirt swishing and the clack of heels as I walk.

How would you describe your style?
When I’m out as Sonja, I prefer a more casual, reserved style. Basic tops showing a tiny amount of cleavage with longer skirts. I still love a good pair of heels since I am shorter.

Where are your favorite places to shop?
Shopping online is great (Amazon, Shein, etc), but you can’t beat your local thrift shop. You can find so many different items and styles. Plus you’re helping out the local community.

What piece of advice would you share to someone starting dressing?
Start small and casual. Don’t immediately start with a short skirt/dress, super high heels, caked on makeup, etc. Try to blend in as you learn how to walk, talk, and act like a woman. Can’t beat a basic top and jeans to get the rush of being female without being the center of attention.
