Every girl’s journey toward embracing her femininity is beautifully personal — and learning how to shape your hips can be one of those exciting little moments where everything starts to click. Whether you’re just beginning to explore your silhouette or refining curves you’ve been nurturing for years, the right techniques can soften your shape, enhance your proportions, and help you feel even more like the woman you know inside.

That’s exactly why The Powder Room is here: to share thoughtful, lived-in guidance from girls who’ve walked this path themselves.

Today’s question feels wonderfully relatable — one so many of us have whispered at some point:

“What are some ways to make my hips look more feminine?”

Hips pads, such as the Jolie pads, are a gift from heaven. I also love wearing peplum tops and dresses as they are a wonderful way to give the illusion of a curvier figure. I am also always wearing corsets which helps reshape my body.

Hi! Feminine hips are one of the joys of ladyhood, and are surprisingly easy to get. Shapewear is your friend here, you can wear a corset that sucks in your waist, and therefore makes your chest and hips appear bigger. Or you can get pads, either in a undergarment, or self adhering, that add those extra curves. What you wear can help as well, maxi skirts often have a tapered/ elasticated waist, that billow out to provide the illusion of curves. Lastly, there is the delicate subject of tucking, which if done correctly can give you room to alter your walk. It take practice, but bringing your thighs together, and allowing one leg to go in front of the other when walking leads to a catwalk strut, with your hips werking overtime! Hope this helps ❤!

When it comes to creating fuller, more feminine hips and/or booty, there are a few different paths you can take — and it all depends on the look you’re going for!

Padded panties  are the quickest, easiest way to add curves. And they're budget friendly. They’re super simple to slip on, and perfect for everyday outfits. They work especially well under jeans or thicker fabrics where you just want that gentle, natural-looking boost without any fuss.

Silicone hip pads  are the queens of realism and drama. If you want dramatic hourglass shape that moves like real curves, silicone is the way to go! These look amazing under pantyhose, tights, and most clothing. And if you’re going for a nude illusion, color matching makes ALL the difference — it helps everything blend seamlessly with your skin.

Step up your game and go for a real transformation with a corset.  A steel-boned underbust corset can help create that deeper, more dramatic waist-to-hip curve. Whether you want a subtle shape or a real “snatched” moment, the right corset can amplify whatever padding you choose.

And of course, you can build curves naturally too. Consistency in the gym goes a long way — think strength training moves like squats, hip thrusts, lunges, and glute bridges. Over time, these shape and lift your hips and booty in a way that reads beautifully feminine. Carmen Carrera has always been very public that her feminine physique was built in the gym!

Exploring ways to create more feminine hips is truly a journey of play, discovery, and self-expression — not a race to a single ideal. Whether you fall in love with hip pads, rely on shapewear to sculpt your curves, slip into corsets that cinch your waist, or choose clothing that beautifully showcases your silhouette, every technique is simply another tool to help you feel more at home in your body.

And remember: femininity isn’t measured by inches but by how confidently you carry yourself. With a little experimentation, a touch of creativity, and guidance from girls who’ve been there, you can craft the curvier, softer hip line that feels authentic to you. The Powder Room is always here to support you — one curve, one contour, and one beautifully feminine moment at a time.
