The Powder Room: Sweating Under Breast Forms

The Powder Room: Sweating Under Breast Forms

The Breast Form Store |

Welcome back to The Powder Room — your go-to space for trusted advice, shared experiences, and all things confidence-boosting! One of the best parts of this community is how we look out for one another, and today, we are tackling a very common, very relatable summer dilemma. Silicone is beautiful for creating the perfect silhouette, but it isn’t exactly known for its breathability.

Our lovely reader Amber wrote in with a question that many of us have faced when the temperatures start to rise:

"Hi everyone, I am wondering what was the best way to deal with sweating under breast forms? Baby powder just is not cutting it. Any advice would be appreciated!— Amber"

Don't sweat it, Amber — we’ve got you covered! Let’s see what solutions our community and our product experts recommend to help you stay cool, dry, and comfortable.

The Powder Room: Sweating Under Breast Forms

Hi lovely Amber! First off, great name! You shine bright l, even if you may have a fossilized leaf inside you 😆! Sweating gets a bad rep I find, its the bodys way of cooling you down, which is amazing when you think about it! You can never stop it, nor should you, instead you counter it, or work with your body to stop yourself getting to hot. Whole body anti-perspirants are becoming more prevelant, or what I find is wearing a vest or wearing some pads underneath the breastforms helps to absorb the sweat. Go for a fabric like linen or merino wool. The BF store also has a sweat blocking spray, which works well. The important thing is too have fun, and not be afraid to get all hot, because you already are! Hope this helps.x 💓

The Powder Room: Sweating Under Breast Forms

Hi Amber! My experience with under-form sweat is: it's gonna happen, so plan for it as best you can. TBFS offers a product called Stay Dry Sweat Barrier Spray. It's fairly effective at stopping the sweat, but I found a downside with my self-adhesive forms. It's almost as if the sweat barrier spray stuck to the forms' adhesive better than my skin. From that point, no amount of washing my forms removed it, and they just don't stick on their own anymore, so I've had to use a separate silicone adhesive spray ever since to keep the forms in place. My solution for situations where I may be sweating is to use extra adhesive spray in addition to the forms' own self-adhesive properties. It doesn't stop the sweat, but it's usually enough to make sure the sweat doesn't cause the forms to fall off.

Of course, this only matters if you have self-adhesive forms. If not, then the Sweat Barrier Spray may be a great solution for you. And it's always possible my issues with the spray and self-adhesive forms may be my own and not something anyone else has run into - your results may vary. But it's certainly something to be aware of. Hope that helps!

The Powder Room: Sweating Under Breast Forms

Sweating under breast forms certainly isn't comfortable! Just like there's many different types of breast forms, there's many different ways to address the issue. It's all based on the breast forms you choose to wear!

If you're wearing medical-grade or "real feel" breast forms, one of the easiest ways to stay more comfortable is to wear them in a pocket bra, especially one with cotton pockets. Cotton is much more breathable than synthetic fabrics and helps absorb moisture instead of trapping it against your skin. If you don't have a pocket bra (or even if you do), breast form covers are another great option. They create a soft barrier between your skin and the silicone, which can make a surprising difference on warm days.

It can also help to apply a little deodorant or anti-perspirant to your chest wall before getting dressed. This won't stop all sweat, but it can help reduce moisture where the breast forms sit. Just be sure to let it dry completely before putting everything on!

If you're using attachable breast forms (it doesn't matter whether they're "real feel" or "real look"), it's especially important to follow the manufacturer's instructions. A lot of powders, creams, deodorants, or anti-perspirants can interfere with the adhesive, reduce how well the forms stick, or even shorten their lifespan. (Worst of all, sometimes this can even void the warranty!) Each brand has its own recommendations, so it's always worth checking their care guide to get the best performance and the longest life out of your forms.

For girls who love wearing a breastplate, perspiration is almost unavoidable because there's simply a lot of silicone covering your upper body. A light dusting of talcum powder, corn starch, or baby powder can make it much easier to put the breastplate on and take it off comfortably, but it won't necessarily prevent sweating while you're wearing it. One trick is wearing a cotton tank top or crop top underneath the breastplate. The cotton helps lift some of the silicone away from your skin, improves comfort, and absorbs a portion of the perspiration throughout the day.

And finally, if you've tried everything and you're still finding the heat uncomfortable, it might be worth considering a different style of breast forms altogether. Lightweight foam breast forms like our Classic Sleep & Travel Triangle breast forms are significantly cooler than silicone and can be a wonderful option for during the summer months — and they're sleep safe! They may not have the same weight or feel as silicone, but the added comfort may be well worth the trade-off, especially if you live somewhere humid.

At the end of the day, a little perspiration is perfectly normal. Sometimes it's less about eliminating sweat completely and more about finding the combination of products and clothing that keeps you comfortable enough to go about your day with confidence.

Whether you choose a moisture-wicking barrier, a specialized adhesive, or a lightweight foam alternative for those ultra-humid days, the goal is always the same — feeling comfortable and confident in your own skin. Finding the right routine can take a little bit of trial and error, but you don't have to figure it out alone.
